Servers

Servers are generally categorized as File & Print, Application, Backup, Data Base, e-Mail, Web, Security, Disaster Recovery, etc. Most common to small businesses would be the File & Print server which is used to store and share data and control printers on the organizations private network. Additionally these servers offer centralized control of network security and data backups.

Hardware platforms from Intel and Hewlett Packard enable PC Net to configure servers that fit usage and performance requirements of our client’s needs. Generally servers are built to exceed the specified recommendations of 3rd party software vendors such as accounting, CRM, retail, financial, medical, and others.

Storage

File Servers are typically designed with limited space to mount storage disks for your data. Due to the high demand for increased data storage, new products continue to emerge. There are two common ways to add the needed capacity. A SAN system (or Storage Area Network) is a solution that contains additional data drives and is attached to a server (or servers) by iSCSI, fiber optic or other high performance cabling. Any server(s) attached to a SAN are unaware that the data is external while performance and reliability are excellent.

A NAS system (Network Attached Storage) is typically a less expensive and less performance critical appliance that connects to a network in the same way workstations and printers connect. In this method, attached servers and workstations see the NAS device as a network share (potentially an additional drive letter). Files can be moved across the network and performance depends largely on the network traffic at the time as well as the quality of the switches, cables and other network devices.

PC Net can determine your needs and provide you the best solution for your budget and performance requirements.

Wireless

Sometimes we need wires. Critical network gear requires the reliability and capacity of Ethernet, fiber optic, and an assortment of other kinds of wired connectivity. Over time, however, the need for convenient and flexible access to clients has made wireless an invaluable way to improve a network. Wireless technology can be utilized in many ways. PC Net can offer a system that allows users to connect workstations anywhere within your facility, while securing access from intruders. Wireless solutions can also be customized to offer a great substitute for buried cable to connect separate buildings at your facility. Our networked telephone systems can even offer cordless business phones that utilize the same wireless access points that your workstations use. New wireless products are rapidly coming into the market with ever expanding features and capabilities. If you feel your network is tied down, PC Net can help you cut the cords.

VOIP

It is time to leverage the power of modern computing against outdated business phone systems. We are past the age of the PBX. The acronym VOIP means “voice over internet protocol”. In the consumer market, it is commonly a way to “borrow” an internet connection to make inexpensive long distance calls. Our phone systems use VOIP and other protocols to create a secure and stable user experience. PC Net business phone systems connect through standard network equipment at your office and provide features that make your staff more efficient and better able to focus on your core business activities. We can also harness the internet to expand your business phones to any connected location in the world. This feature allows you to make and receive calls “from the office” while you are actually away. Fast and flexible system changes are also simplified with our system’s web page interfaces. Regain control of your office phones with a VOIP system.

Antivirus

There are many ways in which a computer can become infected with a virus or spyware application. It’s not uncommon that a user can inadvertently allow the traffic in an effort to perform an unrelated function. Many times, there is no simple way to detect the infected code until the virus launches its payload. Antivirus software applications and appliances have long been and remain a critical aspect of keeping your network environment safe. Depending on your needs and product selection, these tools can often be centrally managed at a single server or workstation. The number and types of infections continues to expand worldwide. PC Net can help you stay safe.

IPS

Intrusion Prevention Systems are hardware appliances and software applications whose duty it is to detect and prevent malicious access to your network. As identity theft and computer hacking continue to rise, the need for detecting and preventing network threats has increased. Many industries have included standard requirements for some type of intrusion prevention. These devices typically connect just inside or outside of your internet access firewall. Your customers have an expectation of privacy and security with any data that concerns their business dealings with you. Likewise, keeping all of your business information and intellectual property private is critical as well. PC Net can implement an IPS solution that will detect and prevent unwanted network threats.
